Action Produces Information

@brian_armstrong One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people:

Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing.

Sounds simple on the surface - the hard part is making it part of your every day working process.

Action Brings Feedback

Think Less, Do More, Write More The key is to do more things that interact with reality. Must interact with reality, must post publicly to be meaningful, to bring feedback information. Communication is very significant. Working alone in silence is the dumbest thing.

People easily fall into a dilemma - the dilemma of inaction, the dilemma of unwillingness to make decisions. Should I attend this gathering? Should I go listen to this speech? Should I speak up? The answer is to try to do them all. Most things, even if wrong, are far more valuable than doing nothing at all.
